In many ways custom written personal essays are similar to a narrative essay. Instructors often assign these to get to know the student better. This allows students to express themselves freely about different topics or personal experiences. A personal essay is truly a great way to express personal feelings about different topics or even about one's personal life.These types of essays allow to represent what the writer thinks and feels about a topic. Details are important in getting the reader involved. Personal essays let the writer use dialogue, setting, point of view, and characterization as needed. These essays encourage the writer to connect with the reader. On the other hand, while personal essays allow a student to vent about a topic, they should not have a lot of philosophical raging.

The first paragraph of a personal essay needs a strong hook to draw the reader into the essay. Most editors will say that if a reader does not get involved in the first paragraph they will not continue reading the essay, book, or magazine. The best way to grab the attention of the reader is to use statistics, quotes, or anecdotes. Since this is a custom personal essay -- beginning with an anecdote is a great way to start. Think about an experience you have had that is interesting and would grab the attention of the reader. Put this experience into a few words and you have your anecdote to begin.

Often instructors assign a specific topic to be written as a personal essay, such as how a specific person has affected your life. Think about this. Who has been the most influential person in your life? Why? It is important to begin with an interesting first paragraph containing a thesis stating why this person has affected your life. The next steps are writing the three paragraphs called "the body of the essay." Use three specific ideas or reasons why this person has made a difference. The conclusion should summarize what you have stated in the thesis. These personal essays or custom written term papers allow the instructor to get to know you as a person a little more as well as show your ability to write.

They often ask for personal essays about why a person is different or how a person's life has changed. Jeanne Marie Laskas wrote a story called, "Love at First Peep." The story tells how her daughter wanted a different pet than normal. She wanted a chicken.

Often a student may struggle with finding a topic to write. Brainstorm several incidents that happened in your life. Think about something that stands out from all the other different experiences. Close your eyes and reflect back on your life beginning with the earliest memories and continuing until the present time. What experiences are interesting? Would these experiences excite the reader? What incidents are you willing to share about your life?

One of the best ways to begin any essay, college term paper, or research paper is through the use of an outline. Begin the outline with the thesis. What will be the main points? How do you want it to close? Think about the evidence you can use to back up the thesis? Once the outline is finished the next step is to write a rough draft. The best way to do this is to write without worrying about grammar or spelling mistakes. Put down the experience the way it happened to you in the rough draft.

Read the rough draft out loud. Are the events in an order that the reader will understand what you are stating? What point of view are you using? What could make this rough draft even better? Rewrite the personal essay thinking about the events or the topic. What do you want the reader to take with them when they finish reading the essay? Have you made your points on how this personal experience affected you?

The next step is to proofread the personal essay. Look for any grammar or spelling mistakes. Read the personal essay out loud. Correct any errors and your personal essay is completed.
